Nanmeng Street, Qingpu
The project is located in Qingpu District, Shanghai, targeting to build the core area of Qingpu District that integrates culture, commercial, business, residential, tourism, leisure and other functions. The design incorporates preserved historic buildings, and applies echo and respect to them in terms of architectural style and spatial pattern, creating a series of distinctive venues and spaces to concatenate all commercial moving lines, so that new and old buildings complement each other well in harmony. The preserved historic buildings shall be repaired and maintained according to different structures, appearances and quality, and be duly extended or enlarged to better adapt to the modern commercial function needs and be integrated with the surrounding new buildings more closely. The design concept highlights the life style of Jiangnan people: "hydrophilic, bridge-attached, courtesy-upholding, and mercantilism".
