Architecture > Characteristic Town
Hilton Garden Inn, Shangri-La
The project is located in Shangrila, Yunnan Province. Exploring the architectural culture in line with the characteristics of Shangrila, integrating, using and extending the local context in the design, and reflecting the regional style. Single buildings feature simple plane layout; and upon continual repetitions, put-together and extensions, they form an architectural group with great vitality. The exterior space is also fascinating due to the free layout of buildings and irregular variations of building volume. Due to the narrow and small size of valley plain, most buildings are erected by slopes on terraces that form from hilly area at both sides of the valley bottom, heading upwards tier upon tier, enjoying the favorable sunshine condition, while taking up the mountain top to show architectural majesty. The free-developing posture gives rise to the free and flexible spatial layout, featuring balanced but asymmetric form of the group and individual buildings.
